Invisalign First is an early orthodontic treatment specifically made for children ages 6 to 10 whose teeth and jaws are still developing. Instead of using metal brackets and wires, Invisalign First near you uses a series of clear, removable aligners that gently guide teeth into better alignment over time.
Each set of aligners is custom-crafted for your kid's smile and is typically worn for 20 to 22 hours a day. The aligners are replaced every one to two weeks to keep pace with dental movement. This treatment is ideal for addressing common concerns like crowding, spacing, and bite issues during the early stages of dental development. By starting treatment early, Invisalign First helps create a strong foundation for future permanent teeth, promoting healthier alignment and potentially reducing the need for more complex orthodontic care later on.
If you're wondering whether your child might benefit from Invisalign First, here are some common signs to look for:
If you notice any of these signs, a consultation with a Bellevue orthodontist can determine if Invisalign First is a good fit for your child's needs.

First Phase I treatment is designed for kids ages 6–10 to address early signs of orthodontic issues like crowding or bite problems. It guides jaw and teeth development while permanent teeth are still coming in.
Phase II may follow later to complete alignment. Starting early helps reduce the need for complex treatments and supports long-term oral health and proper smile development.
Dr. Seely Orthodontics turns little smiles into big, beautiful ones with Invisalign First.
First clear aligners are designed to develop dental arch form and create space for permanent erupting dentition. They can also be used to address conditions such as dental arch development, expansion, spacing/crowding, A-P correction, aesthetic alignment, tooth protrusions or interferences. Invisalign First Phase 1 treatment is also designed to improve the efficiency of Phase 2 treatment.
Invisalign aligners are meant to be worn for 20-22 hours a day to produce the most accurate results in the timeframe prescribed. This can be quite difficult for children, but Invisalign's bright and comfortable design makes it much easier to get used to. The first few sets of aligners may cause pressure; patients who wear them for the majority of the day for the first few weeks have found them to become more comfortable and often forget they are wearing them. Parents must constantly monitor their children and encourage them throughout their journey.
Contact us as soon as you notice they are missing or broken, and we can guide you on whether they should continue wearing their current aligners, move on to the next in the set, or order a replacement set.
If you or your child can potentially benefit from orthodontic treatment, call our office, send us an e-mail or fill out our appointment request form online. We will be happy to schedule an appointment for you. When you call to schedule your appointment, our front office staff will request some basic information from you.
Upon arriving, each patient and parent will be seen by the staff and doctor, who will acclimate you to our office and prepare for the initial exam. We will take the necessary photographs and X-rays to allow us to make a proper diagnosis. The doctor will then complete a brief but thorough exam.
Traditional metal braces have many dietary restrictions. Aligners are removable, so patients can take them off when eating and drinking. Your child can eat and drink as they like. We recommend staying away from high-sugar foods and beverages for growing teeth, as this may disrupt their development.
Many teeth-straightening issues can be treated during childhood with Invisalign First. During the final visit of their treatment, we will assess whether the child needs a retainer to maintain their teeth's position prior to permanent teeth development. We may have them wait until all their permanent teeth are in before prescribing additional treatment.
Our average patient wears aligners for between 6 months and a year. We will discuss your child's treatment time during the consultation appointment, as duration varies from patient to patient.
